Japanese

This term we have started learning about Japanese language and culture. We have learnt greetings like:
Ohayou godzaimasu - Good Morning
Komban wa - Good Evening
Konnichi wa - Hello
Sayournara - Good bye

We are trying to use these around the school. We have been going on a japanese website to learn more about the culture during reading.

We had a cultural discovery where some people made japanese fans and origami.

The class is looking forward to learning more Japanese. It is so much fun!

Haiku Poems

We are learning to write Haiku's. First we learnt about syllables and then the pattern of a Haiku. A Haiku has 5 syllables in the first line 7 syllables in the second and 5 syllables in the last line. We hope you enjoy our Haiku's about the seasons.

Human Calculator

This Term we are focusing on multiplication/division and fractions. We are learning to answer our basic facts within 4 seconds. If you think answering basic multiplication/division facts in 4 seconds is fast you should check out the video link below of Scott Flansburg.

Visual Arts Workshop

Drama

At the beginning of the term we started drama on Wednesdays with Mel. Mel is a special drama teacher. She taught us some drama games and how to make scenes. We played a drama game where you had to be an elephant, Brittney Spears, Dessert Island and the last person to do it had to go in the middle. We had lots of fun! Wearable Arts

Wearable Arts is when you make you’re clothes. All ages were invited. We made our clothes out of paper, rubbish, bags, material and sometimes hula hoops. We had fun. We made them all in the holidays. We put 100% of hard effort into the costumes. Miss Brown and Meta helped us. Our costumes looked really good and crazy. We performed at the Michael Fowler Centre with other schools. On the night we looked really good sparkling in the bright changing coloured light.

Digging for Chocolate Chips

On friday the 15th we mined for chocolate chips. This is how you do it:1st get a chocolate chippie biscuit. Then you get a toothpick and a napkin. Then you put the chocolate chippie biscuit on the napkin. You get the toothpick and start picking at the chocolate chips. Try not to touch the biscuit!
